La donna é mobile is one of Rigoletto’s most famous arias. Meaning "The Woman is Fickle," it’s a popular showcase for tenors-regardless if they happen to be professional opera singers or not. As we prepare for AVA’s season-opening production of Rigoletto, let’s take a look back at some of pop culture’s most memorable impressions of the song.
But first, here's James Valenti singing the aria in AVA's 2006 production of Rigoletto.
Doritos loves the opera (‘La Donna’ had previously been used in another Doritos spot) and decided to turn something so small into an epic with help from Pavarotti. Drama much?
This is only the beginning of ‘The Family Man’...
Yes, Mr. Noodle is a bit silly. But this performance isn’t:

And Whitney Houston (with a little help from Sting, Elton John, and Pavarotti) transposed the key for a legendary performance of the aria back in 1994.
Starting November 5, you can hear AVA’s Resident Artists follow in their footsteps with Rigoletto. Tickets are still available to hear Verdi’s famous opera in Bethlehem (Lehigh University’s Zoellner Arts Center), the Main Line (The Haverford School’s Centennial Hall), and Doylestown (Tohickon Middle School).
