February is finally here! The month of Valentine's Day, possibly some more snow and AVA's new upcoming performance, Werther. Before we delve into the excitement of the upcoming month, let's first explore the outside engagements our talented Resident Artists are up to.
Third-year Resident Artist soprano Karen Barraza will perform as the title role Juliette, in Romeo et Juliette in her hometown of Sinaloa, Mexico. The performance is set to take place in mid-February.
Fourth-year Resident Artist tenor Dominick Chenes has three upcoming performances this month. Dominick will sing the tenor solo in Beethoven's Mass in C on February 5 at Carnegie Hall with New York Choral Society.
Following this performance, Dominick will be performing in an opera showcase with Vero Beach Opera on February 6. The performance, Seduction and Betrayal will feature fourth-year Resident Artist Marina Costa-Jackson, as the soprano soloist, first-year Resident Artist JoAna Rusche as the mezzo-soprano soloist and third-year Resident Artist André Courville as the baritone soloist.
