It might be cold outside, but there are two hot programs with AVA alums at Carnegie Hall this month to warm your soul. Sopranos Indra Thomas and Angela Meade can be found on 57th street on two different days, with two different programs. With the subway stop at the foot of the building, you have no excuse not to attend. Indra Thomas will make her debut at Weill Concert Hall on Saturday, January 15th at 2 pm with violinist Quinton Morris, and pianist Maimy Fong. The program will include works by Korngold, Tosti, Massenet and Rachmaninoff. From the look of Indra’s performance calendar, this is her only scheduled appearance in NYC. The rest of the year takes her to Michigan, France, Spain and Germany.
Who stops into my office yesterday? Angela Meade, to wish us a Happy New Year. In the middle of the conversation she mentions that she is singing a concert at Weill Concert Hall this month as well! She will be part of Discovery Day: Franz Lizst on Saturday, January 29th. The program is from 1 pm to 6 pm, but Angela’s selections, with Bradley Moore at the piano, are from 4:15 to 5:00 pm. Her program includes Tre sonetti di Petrarca, Drei Lieder aus Schiller’s Wilhelm Tell and Oh! Quand je dors.
