You all know I’ve been a bad boy for not keeping up with the blog, so I want to highlight when possible some past productions with AVA singers along with what is happening now, and in the future.
I couldn’t pass up this photo when I saw it on Facebook. Three AVA alums taking over Nashville Opera in Andrea Chènier. Tenor Jeff Halili with baritones Luis Ledesma and Eric Dubin brought a little of the French Revolution with them to the county-music capitol! The production is over, but a picture sometimes is better than words.
Up in chilly Chicago there’s still time to see alumna Elaine Alvarez sing the role of Micaëla in Carmen at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Elaine is no stranger to that company especially when she made international news a few seasons back for replacing a well-known soprano as Mimi in their production of La bohème. Elaine wrote that she’s always happy to be back in the windy city working with such a great company. If you’re in the mid-west, do catch Carmen, this portion of the production runs thru October 29.
I just found out from one of the AVA board members that soprano Ellie Dehn has one performance left singing the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro at San Francisco Opera on Friday October 22. If that’s too short notice, mark your calendar to hear her sing the same role with the Houston Grand Opera on April 15-20, 2011.
