Sunday night was the semi-finals of the Metropolitan Opera Council Competition and as you know from a previous blog, three resident artists from AVA were amoung the semi-finalists. It is with pleasure that I announce that soprano Jessica Julin made it to the final round, and will sing in the concert this Sunday, February 22.
Jessica flew back from Italy late last week after a two week working session at La Scala, where I know they were very happy with her work. Just before she left for Italy, Italy she was asked to audition in Paris for two shows, one of which was the Sound of Music – go figure!
So, for Jessica, this week will consist of coachings and orchestra rehearsals. We wish Jessica good luck next Sunday, or as we say in the ‘industry’, toi, toi, toi!
Just a note of thanks to artist manager Neil Funkhouser for the wonderful photos. Neil mentioned that the above photo was shot just as Jessica learned she was a finalist.
